How the Dream Came to Life
Believe it or not, the dream of opening a coffee shop wasn’t a lifelong dream. It all started one day in a small-town coffee shop, deep in the heart of Texas, when Kelly and her sister-in-law, Kim, were chatting about what Kelly might do when she no longer worked alongside her husband.
For 20 years, Kelly and her husband, Troy, had worked side by side in his HVAC company. While she loved being part of the business, Kelly knew she didn’t want to do AC work forever. So, naturally, the conversation turned to one simple question: What would she do next?
And then the idea was born—why not open a coffee shop in Somerville?
After all, Kelly and Troy had already decided that Somerville was where they wanted to retire one day. It seemed like the perfect place to plant some roots, build something of their own, and create a space for the community to enjoy.
And just like that, the dream was born!

Who is the Crazy Chicken Lady? And is she really crazy?
Let’s answer the second question first—YES! Absolutely! But in the best possible way.
The Crazy Chicken Lady is guaranteed to make you laugh, whether it’s because of her silly sense of humor, her goofy personality, or her legendary clumsiness. And yes, it’s perfectly okay to laugh when she bumps into a wall—because chances are, she’ll be laughing right along with you!
But who exactly is she? Well, that story takes a little longer to tell.
Kelly is a native Texan, though not originally from Somerville. She grew up in Humble and, after marrying her best friend, Troy, the two moved around the Houston area several times before eventually settling in Waller to raise their family.
About 15 years ago, Kelly’s love affair with chickens began after she went on a backyard chicken coop tour. What started with just four hens quickly became… well, a little more than four. Today, she has more than 50 chickens—and that’s only because her family has apparently decided there needs to be a limit!
Beyond the chickens, Kelly’s greatest loves are her family, her faith, and making people smile. She loves spending time with her eight kids and two grandkids, loves the Lord, loves to laugh, and believes there’s almost always a reason to smile.
And, of course…
She absolutely LOVES coffee. ☕🐔
So, is she crazy?
Probably.
But she’s also a whole lot of fun—and she can’t wait to share a cup of coffee, a laugh, and maybe a little chicken craziness with you!

From left to right: Peyton, Layla, and Shae. These three ladies are absolutely amazing!
All three are currently working toward their various degrees, but that hasn’t stopped them from pouring a tremendous amount of time, energy, and creativity into making the coffee shop the perfect place for our customers.
These girls are the creative force behind our publicity and marketing, and you’ll also find them behind the barista bar whenever they can lend a hand. They’ve helped create a warm, welcoming aesthetic where customers can sit back, laugh, relax, and enjoy a great cup of coffee.
Their youthful energy, fresh ideas, and excitement keep all of us on our toes—and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
We are incredibly proud of these three and so excited to see what they dream up next.
